San Ramon Construction Insurance

If you are a Contractor that works in the San Ramon area, you likely already know that the area has more high value homes and high net-worth individuals than average. With that said, there are additional items to consider when purchasing Insurance for your company.

San Ramon Construction Insurance- General Liability

General Liability is common, affordable and easy to obtain. Every contractor should be carrying a General Liability policy, period. The common limits of Liability for contractors is often $500,000 or $1,000,000 per occurrence. If you are working on high value homes in the San Ramon area, this coverage may be too low. Depending on the size and scope of your operations, you may want to consider increasing your current limits or purchasing an excess liability policy in addition to the General Liability. Increasing your limits is often very easy and affordable.

San Ramon Construction Insurance- New Construction

One thing that makes San Ramon unique is that the city has been undergoing a major transformation over the last 30 years. There is a lot of new construction that is going on in the area that you may be a part of already. Make sure to check your General Liability policy to verify which construction operations are covered on the policy. It is important to check because many General Liability policies specifically exclude new construction, tract homes, condos, and apartments. There are programs available to contractors that do these types of operations, and it is absolutely critical that this portion of work is covered.

San Ramon Construction Insurance- Tract Homes/Town Homes

San Ramon residential areas are often built together in tract developments. Many contractors do not realize that tract developments are specifically excluded or severely limited on most General Liability policies. This is similar to the new construction exclusion, however tract homes are much more difficult to find coverage for. If you are working in the San Ramon area, and you come across a tract home development, it is critical you check your policy to assure this type of work is allowed. If a claim were to arise at a tract home development and you have a policy that excludes tract homes, you may have to pay the claim out of your own pocket.
